MADE TO ORDER

We have recently introduced a made to order system on a variety of our styles. This allows us to produce at low volumes with high quality outcomes.  It reduces waste, allows us to be much more flexible with our collection and means that items are made by us, under one roof in Australia.  All made to order items will only be an extra 2-3 day wait from order to completion.

Akazi also produce a very small run of garments in a small scale production house in Indonesia. The business is focused on ethical manufacturing and employs a team of local tailors and craftsman.

As an online business, creating time to see you in person is important to us. For any custom made inquiries please don't hesitate to email us at hello@akazi.com.au. We can arrange a showroom visit and fittings.

FABRIC

Akazi uses all natural textiles because we believe simplicity is best. Our garments are made using quality linens, silk and cotton. We use both light and weighty linens to open-weave muslin. Natural fibers such as linen, are known for their longevity and ability to improve with age. They are proven to be less toxic to our bodies than synthetics, feel better against your skin, and get softer with each wear. We discourage the throwaway 'fast fashion' industry, and wish to encourage our customers to buy fewer garments that are made to last.

 DEAD STOCK NATURAL FABRIC

We are now introducing dead stock natural fabrics and end of rolls left over from large scale production. This redistribution of materials limits our production waste and utilises fabric that would otherwise be unused or end up in our landfill.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sadly one of the biggest contributors to plastic pollution in our waterways and landfill is synthetic clothing. We are very mindful that our fabrics, threads, buttons, and packaging including tissue wrap and tape are all biodegradable. We use cassava bags as an alternative to plastic packaging.  The cassava bag is 100 per cent natural, biodegradable, sustainable, compostable and recyclable. Each non-toxic bag will break down into carbon dioxide and water within six months. It even dissolves in water.
